On Tuesday, the Court of Moutier condemned a man who had obtained illegal files on the darknet. The defendant had been denounced by the American justice system.
These are spine-chilling images: young girls, sometimes as young as 4 years old, filmed having sex with adult men or animals. The individual, who appeared Monday at the Bernese Jura-Seeland Regional Court, had more than 13,000 child pornography files downloaded from the darknet. Photos and videos that the police found at the defendant’s home, after an alert launched by the American justice system. The accused explains that he was caught up in the dark web. As a teenager, he first obtained and exchanged pornographic content involving girls his age. A habit he kept and which later “slipped”, reports “Jura Daily”.
The Public Ministry had requested an eight-month custodial sentence with a two-year suspended sentence as well as a lifetime ban on exercising any activity involving regular contact with minors. A requisition followed by the judges meeting on Monday and Tuesday. For mee Florent Beuret, the defendant’s lawyer, the verdict is too harsh. The permanent ban on having regular contact with minors represents, according to the latter, contacted by us, “a very serious and totally disproportionate restriction from which he will suffer for the rest of his professional life”.
