Bernadette McIntyre Appointed Saskatchewan’s 24th Lieutenant Governor

A Leader with Deep Roots in Saskatchewan
Bernadette McIntyre takes on the prestigious role of Lieutenant Governor, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the position. She has held prominent roles throughout Saskatchewan, including serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Wascana Centre Authority and holding senior positions with SGI.
McIntyre’s leadership has extended to dozens of boards of directors and planning committees, steering organizations like Access Communications, the Regina Airport Authority, SaskSport, the Canadian Curling Association, the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, and the 2013 and 2022 Grey Cup Festivals toward success.
Her commitment to Saskatchewan is further reflected in her academic achievements, holding degrees from the University of Regina in both Economics and Business Administration. She has also earned a place in the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the province’s sporting landscape.
Premier Moe Expresses Gratitude to Outgoing Lieutenant Governor
Premier Moe also expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty and his wife Donna for their dedicated service to Saskatchewan.
“On behalf of the people of Saskatchewan I would like to thank Their Honours for their outstanding service,” Moe said. “Everywhere they travelled throughout Saskatchewan, their genuine warmth and kindness touched the people they met. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
The installation date for the new Lieutenant Governor will be announced shortly. Under the constitution, Lieutenant Governors are appointed by the federal government for a minimum term of five years, with no fixed term limit.

Whether it’s promoting our province on a national stage, supporting local businesses, or contributing to community initiatives, I’ve always been passionate about making Saskatchewan a stronger, more vibrant place.
