Vienna (OTS) – At the beginning of tomorrow’s plenary session of the Federal Council, Bernhard Ruf, a new ÖVP representative from Upper Austria, will be sworn in. Bernhard Ruf succeeds the hotel and catering specialist Alexandra Platzer from Wels, who moved to the state parliament at the beginning of the year. The 47-year-old, trained AHS educator with subjects German and Latin, has been mayor of Bad Hall since 2014 and has also been district party chairman of the OÖVP in Steyr-Land since November 2023. Ruf has also been chairman of the LEADER region Traunviertler Alpenvorland since 2021.

The parliamentary group leader Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler congratulated the new Federal Council: “Bernhard Ruf has already proven in numerous functions that he is a strong representative of people’s concerns and carries out his political activities with great commitment and reliability.”

One of his mottos is “With courage. With moderation. With humanity.” Ruf himself would like to support the concerns of his homeland in implementing their wishes. “It is important to continually inspire people in this region with our ideas, to give them courage and confidence,” says Ruf.

Margit Göll, President of the Federal Council in the first half of 2024, will give her inaugural speech tomorrow. The Governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, will also be present at the meeting and will make a statement. In the first half of 2024, the state of Lower Austria not only holds the chairmanship of the state chamber, but also the chairmanship of the state governors’ conference. (Ending)
