FIFA formalized on Wednesday the lists of finalists competing for the best coaches of the year trophies, awarded on January 15.
For the men’s teams, Pep Guardiola, author of the hat-trick at the head of Manchester City (Champions League, Premier League, Cup) is the favorite. Facing him: Simone Inzaghi, C1 finalist with Inter Milan and winner of the Italian Cup, and Luciano Spalletti, Italian champion with Naples after 33 years of drought.
Jorge Vilda absent from the nominees
For the women’s teams, Sarina Wiegman, already awarded this trophy three times and who led the English selection to the World Cup final against Spain (0-1), will defend her title against Jonatan Giraldez, at the head of Barça, champion of Spain and Europe, and Emma Hayes, coach of Chelsea, author of the Championship-Cup double and future coach of the United States. The very controversial Spanish coach, world champion Jorge Vilda, fired shortly after, is not named.
