Beth Phoenix made a triumphant return to WWE Day 1 to help Edge defeat The Miz.

The Hall of Fame came to the aid of her husband on Saturday night as she leveled the odds in his fight with the A-Lister, who had his own wife Maryse interfering throughout the fight.

After another incident that pissed off the live crowd in Atlanta, the Glamazon appeared on stage and her music hit moments later as she walked down the ramp and caused a distraction to herself.

That left The Miz open for a spear, leading to a count of threes and a big with for superstar Rated R, who had already thrilled fans before the bell even rang with his Brood-inspired entry.

Now fans will expect a mixed tag team fight between the two real-life couples, with a ready-made story and more than enough talent among the four superstars to create something special.

Whether that happens at WrestleMania 38 or the next event in Saudi Arabia is a guessing game, but the time is sure to be right.

Phoenix had been on NXT’s comment desk for the past two years before stepping down after the War Games event last month.

She tweeted at the time, “Before WarGames, I wanted to share that this Sunday will be my last night on NXT. Although I remain a member of WWE, I made the choice to move away from the weekly broadcast booth to spend more time with my family.

“It was not an easy decision, as I loved my three plus years and 135 episodes with NXT and am incredibly proud of the brand. “

Beth paid tribute to her various broadcast partners, as well as NXT bosses Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and the entire crew.

She added: “I will always be grateful to Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Nigel McGuinness, Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Michael Cole and my entire NXT family both in and out of the ring for the incredible opportunity .

“NXT will always be a part of me and Aunt Betty will always be a part of NXT. Leave the porch light on for me! ‘
