Betis coach’s confessions on Youssouf Sabaly: “It’s unfortunate”

The Real Betis coach has shared his thoughts on Youssouf Sabaly, who returned to the competition last week as a left-back.

A rarity in this situation. After a prolonged period of absence, Youssouf Sabaly made a remarkable return to competition last Sunday, contributing to the big victory against Athletic Bilbao (3-1). In addition, usually positioned as a right back, he played the entire match as a left back. During his press conference this Saturday, Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini expressed his admiration for Sabaly’s performances.

“I’m really delighted for him, because he’s been very unlucky with injuries, which disrupted his continuity. Every time he is on the field he demonstrates his skills, which is impressive”, underlines the Chilean technician. Despite the return of Juan Miranda, former Manchester City player, Pellegrini does not rule out the possibility of continuing with Youssouf Sabaly as left back.

“In France, he has already played on the left, he adapts without problem to both sides”, believes Pellegrini. After being authorized to train indoors two days ago, Youssouf Sabaly returned to collective training on Friday and is included in the squad for the trip to Atlético Madrid this Saturday. While waiting to know his exact role, the Senegalese player knows that he will be the starter.
