SAD news came from the actress who played Brenda Walsh in the series Beverly Hills, 90210 Shannen Doherty who reportedly died at the age of 53 following battling breast cancer. Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she passed away in her battle with cancer following a multi-year battle with the disease,” Doherty’s close friend Leslie Sloane said in a statement to People on Sunday (7/14) local time.
Doherty’s career also skyrocketed through the character Prue Halliwell in the series “Charmed”. Throughout her career, Doherty also kept her cancer diagnosis a secret from the cast following the death of her co-star, Luke Perry.
Doherty has continued to work despite her illness, and she has recently starred in several TV movies and hosted a popular podcast, “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty.”
Doherty died on Saturday (13/7), surrounded by family and friends.
