He added that the epidemiological situation in Egypt had witnessed a clear decline during the last period, but there was an increase in the number of cases a week ago.

He revealed that the symptoms of this wave are similar to the symptoms of influenza, and that the sixth wave is a simple new mutant of the Omicron mutant, noting that the symptoms come to the vast majority, between 85 to 90%, simple flu-like.

He added that the symptoms of the sixth wave are; “Sore throat, sore throat, cough, sneezing and runny nose, cracking in the body, high temperature,” explaining that the characteristic symptoms of the Corona virus, such as loss of smell and taste, are not symptoms of this wave.

He stressed the need to adhere to precautionary measures, continuing: “If 95% of the symptoms are mild, in 5% they may be moderate or severe, so we must continue with the precautionary measures.”

He pointed out that in the event of infection with the Corona virus or influenza, the patient must isolate himself, use a muzzle and take medications that are appropriate for his condition.

He appealed to citizens to obtain a vaccine for the Corona virus, adding: “We must all leave our minds during this period, and vaccinations are still available and in large quantities, and whoever has scratched a vaccination should take it, and whoever needs a third dose should take it.”

The Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs said that the current mutations of the Corona virus have become less severe than the first waves due to vaccinations.
