Austria’s women’s relay team rehabilitated itself a little following the weak performance in Oberhof last weekend at the start of the Biathlon World Cup competitions in Ruhpolding. Lisa Hauser, Anna Gandler, Anna Juppe and Dunja Zdouc placed eighth on Wednesday. The top six were already almost a minute away. France’s women won following 4 x 6 km ahead of Sweden and Germany.

The Austrians made a change following the disaster in Oberhof, when the final runner, Hauser, was no longer able to play following overtaking Juppe. Hauser started the competition this time. The Tyrolean fell in the first round, then had to reload a total of three times during prone and standing shooting and handed over to Gandler in ninth place.

The Tyrolean showed a good performance and gained two places. Juppe was able to maintain the result before Zdouc lost one place to the Czech Republic in the finish. In the end, the ÖSV women registered seven spares. The French women won safely at the top. Norway had to settle for tenth place following two penalties from starting runner Marit Ishol Skogan.
