Bichette shines and Blue Jays beat Braves, who lose their 1st visiting series

TORONTO (AP) — Bo Bichette hit a tiebreaking run-scoring single in the seventh inning, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs, as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Saturday.

The Blue Jays won their second straight game over the Braves, who lost a road series for the first time this season. Atlanta had won four straight series on the road at the start of the season before coming to Canada.

Erik Swanson (2-1) got five outs for the win, and Jordan Romano added his 10th save in 12 chances.

Toronto has won eight straight games against Atlanta. He swept all six games in 2021, before winning the last two.

It’s the Braves’ longest skid against a single opponent since 2015, when they lost nine in a row to Washington.

After hitting back-to-back singles off AJ Minter (2-5) in the seventh, Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer had a double steal to put runners on second and third. Bichette singled in Kiermaier before Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made it 4-2 with a sacrifice fly.

For the Braves, Venezuelans Ronald Acuña Jr. 4-1, Orlando Arcia 4-1. Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario 4-1 with a run scored. The Dominican Marcell Ozuna 3-2 with a run scored and two produced.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominican Guerrero 2-1 with one scored and one produced. The Mexican Alejandro Kirk from 2-0.
