Biden condemns recent attacks on Kyiv as ‘barbarism’

US President Joe Biden has strongly condemned the recent Russian rocket attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. “This is even more of their barbarism,” Biden said today at the G-7 summit at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria. Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko spoke of a “cruel attack”.

For the first time in three weeks, Kyiv was once more the target of Russian rocket attacks today – a few hours before the start of the G-7 summit. According to Ukrainian sources, a residential complex was hit and at least five people were injured. In the affected residential area in northwestern Kiev there is also an armaments factory that had already been shelled in the past.

“It seems that Russia deliberately wanted to use the launch of the G-7 in a perfidious way for a missile strike,” Klitschko told the German newspaper “Bild”. “The world must finally understand that this war can only be ended if Ukraine gets enough military support to defend itself.”
