Biden irritates with statements about his health: “That’s why I have cancer” – abroad

US President Joe Biden caused irritation during a speech in Massachusetts. In his remarks on climate protection, Biden also spoke about his childhood in Delaware and the local pollution at the time. Then he caused a stir with a sentence about his state of health.

“Gina McCarthy, a former environmental official in Massachusetts, told me on the way how people had to get a rag in the morning and wipe the gunk off their windshields just to be able to drive. That’s not much different from where I grew up, in a place called Claymont, Delaware, which had more oil refineries in its area than Houston, Texas, right on the Pennsylvania border. And all the winds were blowing in our direction. At the end of the street was a small school that I went to. And because there was a four-lane freeway, my mother drove us so we didn’t have to walk. And guess what? At the first frost we had to turn on the windshield wipers to get the oil smear off the windshield. That’s why I and so many others I grew up with have cancer. And that’s why Delaware has had the highest cancer rate in the country for so long.”
