The President of the United States, Joe Biden, stated that former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s favorite for the November presidential election, is “determined to destroy” the country’s democracy
“He is determined to destroy our democracy and take away fundamental rights like women’s ability to make their own health care decisions,” said Biden, in a message about the results of the Super Tuesday primaries.
Fifteen of the country’s 50 states voted in the primaries on Tuesday, and the Democratic Party’s results showed that the US President won in all of them.
The only lost race on the Democratic side on Super Tuesday was in American Samoa, a small US territory in the South Pacific Ocean.
Biden was defeated by unknown candidate Jason Palmer, by 51 votes against 40. Trump, for his part, has so far won 12 of the North American states counted, according to projections from the North American media.
Former United States ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, won in Vermont, her only victory so far against Donald Trump on Super Tuesday.
Results are not yet known in Utah and Alaska. Trump and Biden are the favorites of their respective parties to face each other in November in the North American presidential elections.
“Tonight’s results leave the American people with a clear choice: are we going to move forward or are we going to allow Donald Trump to drag us back into the chaos, division and darkness that defined his presidency?” communicated.
The leader noted that four years ago, when he ran for the White House against Trump, he did so “due to the existential threat” that the tycoon “represented to America”.
“If Donald Trump returns to the White House, all this progress is at risk. He is driven by resentment and spite,” he added.
Trump said Tuesday’s results “are conclusive” and mean he should be the Republican candidate. “They call it ‘Super
Tuesday’ for a reason and it’s been a big one. There has never been a more conclusive result. It was an incredible day and night”, said the former President at a public event in Palm Beach, Florida, at the famous mansion he owns in the Mar-a-Lago luxury resort. In his celebratory speech, Trump touched on one of his favorite topics, immigration.
“They want open borders and open borders will destroy our country. We need borders and we need free and fair elections,” said the 77-year-old politician.
Trump also harshly criticized Biden, stating that, thanks to the Democratic President, the United States has taken “a big beating over the last three years”.
“Our country has been sad” and that is why today’s victories “will be inspiring”, he said. “We are going to do something that no one has been able to do,” she added.
