Yesterday, US President Joe Biden signed a decree to support Ukraine with new aid worth 40 billion dollars, half of which is earmarked for the Ukrainian military.
In this context, the Associated Press reported that the resolution passed by Congress, with bipartisan support, deepens the US commitment to Kyiv, at a time of uncertainty about the future of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The agency added that the new funding aims to support Ukraine until next September, and will allocate $20 billion in military aid to the Ukrainian army, ensuring a steady flow of advanced weapons that have been used to impede Russia’s progress.
The aid will also go to $8 billion to support the general Ukrainian economy, $5 billion to address global food shortages that may result from the collapse of Ukrainian agriculture, and more than $1 billion to help refugees.
