big changes are coming!

This is an announcement that should appeal to all Facebook users. However, we are talking here about the removal of several location features on the social platform, functions that were still used and that some liked. But by disappearing, it involves less data collection. And that alone is good news.

Concretely, at least in the end, “Close Friends” and several geolocation features will fall by the wayside. Facebook also communicates it itself to its users through a message in its application for Android and iOS. This option made it possible in particular to share your position with these “close friends” to find you. It will disappear after May 31, just like the various alerts using location history or background location.

An important change that does not mean the end of data collection on Facebook. Indeed, Meta explained in a press release that this would still take place through location data… but for “other experiences”.
