The match lasted a full 52 (!) minutes before Nick Kyrgios brought world number seven Andrey Rublev to his knees. It was a demonstration.
“I know he’s a player who relies on a certain rhythm, so I tried to keep the points short and sweet and just play aggressively,” explained Kyrgios after his gala performance. The 26-year-old, currently only number 102 in the ATP ranking, started the tournament with a wildcard.

The clear victory is all the more surprising given that Rublev was one of the favorites in Miami after winning the two tournaments in Marseille and Dubai and taking part in the semi-finals in Indian Wells.
