A biker was seriously injured on Sunday morning following being hit by a car on the E17 towards Antwerp, near Haasdonk, said the East Flanders prosecutor’s office.
The biker was found unconscious Sunday morning around 5:30 a.m. along the highway. The victim was knocked down just before the exit and hit a guardrail. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition. His life was still in danger in the followingnoon.
The driver of the car involved fled but was caught. The 24-year-old motorist was under the influence of alcohol. The exact circumstances of the accident are still unknown. The questioning of the young driver was still in progress late Sunday followingnoon.
