Vienna/Luxembourg – The European Court of Auditors (ECA) is quite critical of the EU Commission’s move to tie the payment of EU funding to the member states’ willingness to reform. From the current perspective – an official reform paper is not yet available – it is crucial that the new funding processing regime is similar to that of the Recovery and Resilience Fund (ARF), says Helga Berger, who was sent by Austria to the ECA in Luxembourg, on the occasion of the presentation of the ECA report on EU finances 2023. “We would view the ARF very critically as a blueprint because you can hardly track the money.”
