Ana Milena Plata, CEO of Biofix Group, a business group made up of 4 companies that work for financing and social development, is one of the leaders in charge of the carbon credit market in the country. Her main motivation is well-being and articulated work with ethnic and indigenous communities.

Through Biofix, he has led eleven high-impact projects in Colombia and one in Brazil, a country with which he says he has a huge debt for having received it during his master’s studies in sustainable development and doctorate in forest engineering.

Offering innovative solutions and educating companies on sustainable environmental practices that respond to the needs of communities became the central pillar of the company he leads.

Its mission is to “build bridges between large corporations and the territories that work for the conservation of the environment.”

Although the path has been full of challenges, Plata assures that working with communities is one of her greatest inspirations. “It is a very great motivation because climate resources and financing are being brought closer to communities and people who have many unsatisfied basic needs such as education, health, infrastructure, drinking water and energy.”

In this conversation with Carlos Enrique Rodríguez, deputy director of Semana, he talks regarding how the pandemic has made consumers more aware of their carbon footprint and has aroused interest in purchasing products that are more environmentally friendly.

He also reflected on how to generate profitable investments taking into account the priorities that citizens have today associated with caring for the planet.
