2020 – in a year full of endings, the story of Bipolar Architecture their beginning. The German-Turkish quartet based in Berlin and Istanbul rose from the ashes of Heretic Soul, but took their death metal approach much further, from djent to post rock to hardcore. About a year and a half following the strong debut “Depressionland”, the band landed at Pelagic – the ideal home for the new colossus „Metaphysicize“.
The powerful, brutal and yet sophisticated “Death Of The Architect” sums up the wonderful and wondrous nature of this band in just under six minutes. An ominous and yet delicately melodic intro is deceptive, as dark clouds gather behind it, accompanied by selected brute force. The roots of the quartet shine through best here, at the same time permeated by exciting arcs of tension and thus increasingly heading towards breach. “Alienated” also feels at home there, hitting the proverbial door straight into the house, but only really shines in the turning points. The complete reduction in the middle section explores gripping melodies before the next Blackened Death hussar ride follows.
