Bitten by the viper; Forest department should pay Rs 70,000 compensation- Legal Services Authority Adalat

Paravur: A decision has been made in the Adalat organized by the District Legal Services Authority to pay compensation of Rs 70,000 to the person who was bitten by a viper. Prakash’s son, Atul, was bitten by a snake in the Nairambalam Medakkal house. The compensation amount is to be paid by the forest department. On June 30, 2019, Atul was bitten by a snake in his backyard. He was under treatment in a private hospital in Ernakulam for 15 days.

A petition was filed before the District Legal Services Authority asking for compensation with the participation of Malayatur Division Forest officials. Medical records and bills were produced.

District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Sub Judge Ranjith Krishnan, Adv. Laijo P. The complaint was considered by the bench comprising Joseph. The forest department agreed to pay Rs 70,000 as compensation. The amount will be given from the fund of the forest department to compensate those who are attacked by wild animals.
