The final of the 11th Games of the Islands football tournament has still not been digested by the Reunionese players.

Yesterday, Monday September 4, on their way back, while they were at Ivato airport in Madagascar, they went to hold the Mauritian referee to account who whistled the penalty in the very last minutes of game, granting victory to the Malagasy selection.

There was no brawl but the tension was high, with verbal attacks from both sides. The Reunion coach immediately called for calm. Only one player from the R club was kept away from the group by the Malagasy police, this break only lasted a quarter of an hour.

The dispute with the Mauritians does not date from the semi-final played on August 31. As a reminder, the quadricolores were eliminated (2-1) after a fault of the goal of the club M on the goalkeeper of Reunion, Grégory Pausé.

The dispute has its source well upstream, in the final of the 10th Island Games organized in Mauritius in 2019, the Reunionese beat the host country after a penalty shootout.

According to our information, already on Sunday evening, footballers from Reunion and Mauritian athletes almost came to blows in a very popular nightclub in Antananarivo.
