New Delhi – BJP National President J.P. Nadda criticized Rahul Gandhi for advocating OBC reservation during the debate on the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Nadda’s strong reaction in the Rajya Sabha was against Rahul’s remark in the Lok Sabha that he was shocked to hear the number of OBCs among the 90 central secretaries.

“When Congress is ruling the country, they don’t think about OBCs. The BJP-led NDA front gave the country its first prime minister from the OBC category. Out of BJP’s 303 Lok Sabha MPs, 85 are from the OBC category. 27 percent of BJP MLAs and 40 percent of MLCs in the country are from the OBC category. The BJP has more OBC MPs than the entire strength of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha,” Nadda explained.

The Lok Sabha yesterday passed the Constitutional Amendment Bill, which would reserve 33% of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures for women, with support from both the ruling party and the opposition. 454 people voted in favor and 2 people voted against.
