Black Shark now offers the GS3, and therefore all the specifications of the new smartwatch are publicly available. More specifically, the watch is equipped with a 1.43-inch AMOLED touchscreen, itself protected from scratches and damage by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The watch itself is IP69K certified, which proves that it is protected against dust damage. According to the manufacturer, the watch is waterproof up to a test pressure of 5 ATM, which means that the Black Shark GS3 can also be used while swimming.
The equipment includes a GNSS module. This not only supports GPS, but also Beidou, Glonass, Galileo and QZSS, which should enable precise positioning almost anywhere. Navigation is supposedly possible using Baidu Maps. An NFC module is available which enables contactless payment.
Battery life is claimed to be up to 21 days, although actual battery life, as usual, is highly dependent on your own usage. Heart rate and oxygen saturation can be measured. A pedometer is integrated and sports activities can be tracked. Calls are also possible, but in the absence of a separate mobile modem, the GS3 only works as a Bluetooth headset.
The Black Shark GS3 is currently available in the domestic market of China at a discounted pre-order price of around $70. No information on a worldwide release is yet available.
