Blast in Abu Dhabi; Airport fires, fuel tankers explode | Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: Two blasts in Abu Dhabi. Three petrol tankers explode in Al Musafa, Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi airport was also attacked. Abu Dhabi police say a drone strike is suspected to have caused fuel tankers to explode and catch fire at the airport. No casualties or other damage have been officially reported.

News agencies report that Yemeni Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack. The bomber struck shortly following noon in front of a group of oil tankers carrying petroleum products near the warehouse of oil company Adnoc.

A fire also broke out in the new construction site of Abu Dhabi International Airport. Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that this was also a drone attack.

Authorities have launched an extensive investigation. Abu Dhabi police said there was no significant damage.
