On August 22 and 23, publisher Nexon hosted an Overwatch Day event at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea. The large-scale gathering celebrated the local PC version launch of Blizzard’s hero shooter under Nexon’s Korean service, featuring developer talks, creator matches, and interactive task force zones.
The Busan Launch Event and On-The-Ground Scale
Admission to the two-day Busan event was entirely free for visitors aged 15 and older.
To incentivize immediate engagement, Nexon distributed 10,000 KRW in Nexon Cash alongside a commemorative poster to the first 5,000 pre-registered visitors on each day of the weekend. The publisher also hosted a character cosplay contest with a grand prize of 3,000,000 KRW, putting community builders and localized talent front and center.
High-Profile Developer Presence and Interactive Zones
Blizzard leadership anchored the developer talk sessions. The panels featured Walter Kong, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Live Games/Mobile; Ben Bell, Executive Producer and Senior Vice President of Overwatch; and Aaron Keller, Game Director of Overwatch.

Beyond executive keynotes, the schedule packed in specific crowd-pleasing formats:
- Creator special matches highlighting regional content creators.
- A live drawing showcase hosted by members of the Overwatch art team.
- Dedicated fan meetings with the voice cast and members of the South Korean national team for the Overwatch World Cup.
- Seven distinct interactive zones where attendees could step into the roles of task force heroes to win physical merchandise like hero dioramas and oversized mousepads.
Regional Infrastructure and Community Portals
Shifting game service operations to a dedicated regional framework requires more than temporary convention floor space. Ahead of the full-scale PC launch, Nexon established an official brand portal to centralize patch notes, upcoming event schedules, and localized community discussions for South Korean players.
