Blizzard looks back at what awaits players for the rest of Unexpected mode – Hearthstone

Blizzard recently indicated a hiatus of Unexpected mode for the months of December and January before reactivation during the February season. Following player feedback regarding this announcement, Blizzard is modifying its plans, as indicated in the message published just now on the official forums.

Unexpected mode has very enthusiastic players and they enjoy the November season (Merveille and Un’Goro). Instead of turning off Unscheduled Mode for the month of December, Blizzard will keep the current format for one more season. The mode will then be deactivated in January and return with a different format in February.

The developers want Unexpected mode to be a space to experiment with new ideas and for players to think differently about their collection. This was designed as a seasonal mode which will be deactivated occasionally, a bit like a giant arm wrestling. This break allows the team to learn from previous seasons of Unexpected and prepare for future ones – and the developers hope to make the mode more exciting when it returns. The team understands that communication was not clear enough regarding the duration of these interruptions. From now on, Blizzard will share them more precisely. The developers hope that players will be happy with this extension and look forward to sharing details of the February season.
