The Hauts-de-France region won first place in France for its beers on Tuesday with forty-three medals in the general agricultural competition at the Salon de l’Agriculture which is held until Sunday in Paris. “This is the first time that our region has won so many medals,” rejoices Vincent Bogaert, president of the Hauts-de-France brewers’ union. Even if we are an old region with a brewing tradition like Alsace, we are rewarded for our continuity in quality but also for our creation and our innovation. »
The flight of a long labor
Indeed, the 12 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 12 bronze medals reward the classic blondes, browns or amber as much as the IPAs, India Pale Ale, with strong aromas of hops and fruits, the refreshing white barrels or stouts with bitter coffee flavors.
“The reward is all the more beautiful as it crowns the large investments made by the breweries of the North. Because it’s not all about winning a medal, it’s better when the brewery wins every year”, underlines the co-founder of the Saint-Germain brewery born in 2003 in Aix-Noulette (Pas-de-Calais ), which for more than four years was the most decorated brewery at the agricultural show with 29 medals and holder of five awards of excellence. “It’s proof that our beers are of high quality, the result of long-term work for all the breweries in the region, big and small alike”, savors Vincent Bogaert.
