“Blood bags” .. a crisis that has been going on for a while, and promises to solve it soon

The Director of the Medical Laboratories and Blood Banks Department, Saif Al-Juhaimi, said that the closure of the blood bank came as a result of years of accumulation due to the lack of medical supplies, such as blood bags that were consumed during the Corona pandemic.

Al-Juhaimi added, in a telephone interview with Al-Ahrar, that the contracts to procure equipment were through public bidding, stressing that the situation is on its way to being resolved by providing equipment in an urgent manner until the problem is resolved.

Al-Juhaimi indicated that the quantity announced by the Medical Supply Authority is not sufficient to cover the needs, but it will contribute to solving at least part of the problem, as he put it.

The Central Blood Bank in Tripoli had announced that it had stopped receiving blood requests due to the lack of bags and laboratory equipment in the bank, despite its repeated contacts with the concerned authorities.
