What you need to know about Laifen?
Company Laifen was created in 2019 by the Chinese scientist Hongsin Ye. For two years he developed and “finished” the idea of a powerful and compact air engine that could fit in a hair dryer and operate at a speed of 110 thousand revolutions per minute.
Everything worked out, and now the engine is in the Laifen Swift Special hair dryer. Sales began in 2022, and this thing has gained popularity not only in the home market, but even in the United States.
Today, Laifen Swift has sold more than one million pieces, ranked first among hot air dryer brands in China’s Tmall and JD. Sales started in Russia.
What is special about the Laifen Swift Special hair dryer motor?
Briefly, he more powerful than others and super quiet. At 110,000 rpm, the noise level is only 59 dB. This is less than comparable Dyson (62 dB) or Philips (67 dB) models.
The air speed is also higher than all such: as much as 22 meters per second. Dyson has 20 meters / sec here, but it makes no sense to even remember about the rest in this context, the difference with some is almost twofold.
The hair dryer itself is physically smaller and lighter than the “analogues” of the above brands: 407 grams for Laifen Swift Special versus 463 grams for Dyson or as much as 920 grams for Philips.
My impressions of the Laifen Swift Special
Powerful air jet. Swift has two modes: medium and maximum power. On the medium and with the styling nozzle, the air jet escapes with the same force as on my regular hair dryer with a powerful classic motor. And at the maximum, the flow is so strong that it seems as if Laifen came up with some kind of cheats. This flow is especially surprising given the low noise level.
It’s really VERY quiet. When I dried my hair with my semi-professional 2700 watt hair dryer, the Apple Watch sent a notification about dangerous noise levels (that is, more than 90 dB). And Laifen Swift Special can be leaned against your ear without discomfort. At full power, it’s no louder than my 16″ MacBook Pro at full load!
Three temperature settings. The hair dryer has an LED ring that displays the active mode. Blue gives a stream of 20 degrees, yellow 50 degrees, and red 80 degrees. I have never had to use red. Yellow is enough for the head, plus this temperature is better for the hair.
Dries hair instantly. That I have short hair, that my wife with very long hair came to the same conclusion: Laifen Swift Special dries hair two, if not three times faster. The combination of the power of the air jet and its uniformity (there is almost no spraying from a distance of a meter) makes it possible to cope with drying and styling in 30 seconds even at medium temperatures.
Very light, comfortable to use. Classic hair dryers, especially high-power models, weigh a kilogram or more, and their size is impressive. Laifen Swift Special lies perfectly in the hand, and even after 5 minutes of styling it does not get tired.
Nozzles for Laifen Swift Special are magnetic. Fasten strongly and easily, do not fly off.
There is ionization. Laifen promises a flux of 200 million negative ions per cubic centimeter of air. I can’t check this, but I can say that the hair fits very easily, it doesn’t seem dry.
Doesn’t vibrate in hands. Even at maximum power, the hair dryer handle does not tremble – although such a stream of air escapes from it that it seems that the hair dryer will now fly away like a rocket if you let it go.
Lots of protection mechanisms. Almost all classic hair dryers end their life cycle the same way. Something inside lights up, it stinks and that’s it. In Laifen Swift Special, overheating fuses, thermal control, internal temperature sensors and motor overload protection are provided against such an outcome. The body is made of fireproof fiberglass and nylon. Even the nozzle is made so that its edges do not overheat during prolonged use. After 3 minutes of operation, you can safely take it with your hand and not get burned.

Two versions of Swift are available for sale: with and without additional attachments. There are different colors. Now you can buy a Laifen hair dryer in Russia from 12 399 rubles.
In light of the appearance of this model on sale with us, it’s not entirely clear to me why overpay for other “advanced” hair dryers or even take something other than Swift. It is lighter, quieter, more compact, more powerful than others.
Comfort in use, speed of drying and styling, low noise level, comfortable temperature conditions – in short, I am unexpectedly very pleased with Laifen Swift Special and now I look with disdain at my previous, classic hair dryer. Against the backdrop of Laifen, this is the last century.
