BMW iDrive 8: zoom on the connected cockpit of the new 3 Series

Officially presented last spring, the restyled version of the BMW 3 Series arrives on our market this summer. This large curved dual screen combines a 12.3-inch information screen behind the steering wheel with a 14.9-inch control screen. The whole, with a modern and refined look, is controlled either directly via the central touch screen with its customizable widgets, or via the iDrive wheel accompanied by its direct shortcuts, or via voice command.

Live Cockpit Plus as standard

On the practical side, this change also brings its share of new features offered as standard. All 3 Series now inherit in particular automatic air conditioning with 3 zones but also the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with its navigation system at no extra charge.

The eighth-generation BMW iDrive operating system introduced in the new 3 Series further extends the possibilities for interaction between driver and vehicle through the “BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant”. This connected personal assistant can in particular perform the driver’s favorite functions autonomously, but also inform him about the state of the vehicle or the traffic on his route or even explain to him the operation of the various on-board functions.

Along with iDrive 8, the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring also feature an integrated eSIM compatible with 5G mobile technology and improving smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the “BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades” function also makes it possible to keep its infotainment system constantly up to date by providing easy access to new services and regularly improved functions.
