BMW unveils its most powerful electric car - BMW i7 M70 xDrive

Today at the Shanghai Motor Show in China, BMW unveiled the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, a full-size 7 Series electric sedan that is the most powerful electric vehicle in the Bavarian automaker’s range. The novelty has high power, accelerates very quickly and is able to move at speeds up to 250 km / h.

BMW’s 7 Series vehicles have always been known for their generous interior space and driving comfort, and now the latest electric version is the automaker’s “most powerful” electric vehicle ever. Among BMW electric vehicles, the best-selling model last year was the BMW i4 M50, a powerful version of the 4 Series electric sedan. The company now has three electric-powered models, including the faster BMW iX M60 SUV and the new i7 M70.

The BMW i7 M70 has two electric motors, an all-wheel drive system (AWD), has a torque of up to 1100 Nm and a power of 660 horsepower. The rear axle engine in particular has a power density of 2.41 kW/kg, making it the most dynamic electric motor in the BMW portfolio.

The BMW i7 M70 can pick up speed quickly, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds when ‘M’ or ‘M Sport Boost’ is engaged. With a battery capacity of 101.7 kWh, the i7 M70 electric sedan can travel from 303 to 348 miles on the WLTP cycle (488 to 560 km). The performance mode on the i7 M70 increases the distance by about 15-25%, but the maximum speed of the electric car is limited to 90 km / h, and the climate control will be turned off.

For the first time, the BMW i7 M70 will feature unique lighting around the grille. The electric car will also include design elements typical of the M-series on the sides, rear and interior. The BMW i7 M70 will be one of the brand’s first models to feature the updated BMW 8.5 operating system, offering a new home screen and quick select features.

BMW has yet to release pricing for the i7 M70, but given that the i7 xDrive60 version starts at $120,000, you can expect it to be even more expensive.
