I admit it, I love convertibles. These small winter vehicles in particular, which barely have two seats but offer exceptional road holding and dynamic driving. This is the case of the BMW Z4 M40i.

Gossips, or those who know me a little, will tend to smile. After all, my waistline has grown quite a bit over the years, and getting in and out of small convertibles can seem like a perilous exercise. Which is not the case at all.

On the contrary in fact, since the Z4 offers a welcoming interior, enveloping seats and an environment worthy of the reputation of BMW. Then, the access is a bit low, but you get used to it quickly! For the rest, it is very difficult to find any real faults with this vehicle, even if it is sometimes a little heavy.

Dynamic driving

The 2023 BMW Z4 M40i Convertible is a stylish and capable roadster that delivers on its promise of driving pleasure. It’s powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that produces 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to propel the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. The eight-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and quickly, and rear-wheel drive keeps the car firmly planted in the corners.

The Z4 M40i’s handling is crisp and precise, and the steering is well-balanced and responsive. The suspension is firm, but not too firm, and it soaks up bumps and road imperfections well. The ride is also relatively quiet, even with the top down. It should nevertheless be underlined that the rigidity of the suspensions, a little too marked on rough roads, takes on its full meaning when you press into the bends and that the small car displays perfect stability, controlling its weight, all in all imposing, at wonder.

The interior of the Z4 M40i is well appointed and comfortable. The seats offer good support and plenty of adjustability, and the cabin is well insulated from wind and road noise. The materials used throughout the cabin are of high quality, and the overall finish is excellent.

The Z4 M40i comes standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon sound system and sunroof . A number of options are also available, such as a head-up display, a heated steering wheel and a wireless charging pad.

Overall, the 2023 BMW Z4 M40i is a great choice for anyone looking for a fun and stylish roadster. It has the performance to keep you entertained, and the interior is comfortable and luxurious. If you’re looking for a car that will put a smile on your face, the Z4 M40i is a great option.

Pleasant, luxurious and yes, a little expensive (the M40 is priced over $75,000), the BMW Z4 is a little toy that we appreciate no matter the conditions. A fine example of essential summer fun!
