This morning, President Gabriel Boric confirmed the arrest of four subjects involved in the murder of Lieutenant Emmanuel Sánchez, which occurred on Wednesday night in the commune of Quinta Normal.
The president indicated that the crime “already has consequences,” since “there are four people detained” for the crime.
“This shows that in Chile we will not allow impunity, we are going to catch the vile criminals who commit these crimes,” he said.
Then he added: “They must know that they are not going to go unpunished, that we are not going to stop in the fight once morest crime, that they do not intimidate us even for a second, and that there are more forces that they give us as a State to our police, to the “Government and the entire society to continue pursuing crime, which will not win this battle.”
The president refers to the incident recorded at the intersection of San Pablo and Radal streets, when the police officer in question, who was leaving a religious cult with his family, saw that an illegal act was being committed and immediately decided to act.
“He encounters these people who were committing some type of crime and immediately confronts them and they start shooting at him, he repels the attack, gets out of the vehicle to protect his family and receives, based on the information we preliminarily handled, four ballistic hits.” , detailed the general director of Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez.
He was taken to the San Juan de Dios hospital, where he finally died due to the severity of his injuries.
One of the criminals, a Venezuelan national, died in the exchange of shots.
