Minister Carolina Tohá assured that President Gabriel Boric signed the circular aimed at ministries, public services, Armed Forces and Law Enforcement, to facilitate the management of land for housing purposes.

The president of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, issued a circular this Friday to government institutionsso that they make all public land available for use in the construction of social housing.

This was reported by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Carolina Tohá; the Minister of Housing and Urbanism, Carlos Montes; and the Minister of National Assets, Javiera Toro, after participating in the cabinet council that was held this Friday at the Palacio de La Moneda.

“This year, if we do not have enough land, all the effort that is being developed will not see the light of day. product of ittoday the President informed us that he has signed a circular that will be distributed to all the ministries and services of the State, including the Armed Forces, to make available the land we have”, Minister Tohá pointed out.

This order is part of the Housing Emergency Plan, which seeks to deliver 260 thousand homes during the government period. Minister Carlos Montes affirmed that the goal does not solve the deficit of more than 640,000 homes, but it will help stop its growth.

“What we are asking now, and for this reason the President’s circular seems very important, is that the institutions be made to see that they do so and that they do so as soon as possible. In the specific case of the Armed Forces, we have studied and we believe that they have 1,169 hectares that can be used for housing in suitable places”, indicated the head of the Minvu.

Montes added that progress has been made, together with ministries such as National Assets, in obtaining land for families.

“Of the 3,519 hectares required for the Housing Emergency Plan, we already have a high percentage. We are missing 600 hectares. In addition, we have to leave land for the next governments, because a land bank is being built here to maintain a sustained line of housing construction “he added.

For her part, the Minister of National Assets, Javiera Toro, emphasized that “State land belongs to all Chileans, and therefore, they must be available to people’s needs, and today the The housing emergency is a true national challenge, a challenge for the whole of society, and we have to jointly take charge of it”.
