Boric’s father defended his criticism of Seremi for the wind project: “I can give my opinion as a Magellan” | National

“The President’s Government has my full support, which does not imply that I cannot give an opinion as a Magellan,” assured Luis Boric Scarpa, after questioning the demands of the Environment Seremi for the green hydrogen project in the Magallanes region.

The father of the President of the Republic, Luis Boric, He defended his criticism of green hydrogen project on the Magellan Region, in the face of questions about his relationship with the president.

Through a letter published in The Mercury, signed as “a neighbor of Punta Arenas” and “Dad of three wonderful children”, Luis Javier Boric Scarpa referred to the controversy generated by his comments.

“I am the father of…, which does not prevent me from freely expressing my opinion, in a country where we have freedom of expression,” he assured.

“I respectfully raise topics in which I have competence and make constructive criticism on a specific topic,” he added.

Let us remember that Boric Scarpa questioned the demands made by the Seremi of the Environment of Magallanes, to the wind project South Lighthouse.

This is an initiative that, with an investment of US$500 million, proposes to install 65 wind turbines in Magallanes, with a capacity of 325 MW, so that its future “eFuel” plant works with clean energy.

However, the company made up of HIF and ENEL withdrew the environmental impact study, since it considered that “observations by some public bodies in the process of evaluating this wind farm exceed the usual standard.”

Through his Twitter account, the president’s father criticized what happened.

“Certain demands seemed strange to me,” he assured, adding that “there are regulations in Chile and that is what must be complied with, it is not justified to go beyond said regulations.”

In this regard, the engineer insisted on his critical position after what happened with the Faro del Sur wind project.

“My position is unrestricted to compliance with environmental measures and that they are compatible with sustainable development that will not only benefit Magallanes, but also our country and the planet. The State must help so that investment projects materialize and meet not only environmental standards, but also territorial effects”, he added.

“And of course the Government of the President has my full support, which does not imply that I cannot give an opinion as a Magellan,” concluded Luis Boric Scarpa.
