Boris Becker sentenced to prison: the pictures of the day

The sentence for tennis legend Boris Becker was awaited with great excitement in London. Numerous photographers and cameramen were ready in front of the court on Friday, and a long queue was also forming inside hours before the start of the pronouncement. Due to the crowd, the meeting was moved to a larger room.

Significantly fewer journalists followed the trial during the trial. The British media in particular had shown little interest. First, the representative of the prosecution had the floor before Becker’s defense was allowed to comment again. Judge Deborah Taylor then announced her decision. She sentenced the German tennis legend to two and a half years in prison.

Becker was found guilty of four out of 24 counts by a jury at Southwark Crown Court three weeks ago. The three-time Wimbledon winner was declared bankrupt in 2017 and then had to disclose his assets. However, the lay judges came to the conclusion that Becker concealed ownership of a property in his hometown of Leimen, illegally transferred large sums to other accounts and withheld shares in an artificial intelligence company.
