Aged 35, Marchand will begin his 15th season with the Bruins, having been a third-round pick of the team in the 2006 draft.
The winger scored 372 goals in 947 games during his career. Last year, in 73 games, he scored 21 goals and obtained 67 points.
A Stanley Cup winner in 2011, Marchand becomes the Bruins’ third captain in four years, after Bergeron replaced Zdeno Chara in 2020.
