Two days after Justin Turner was hit in the face with a pitch that required 16 stitches, the Red Sox aren’t ruling him out for Opening Day availability. Puerto Rican manager Alex Cora said the infielder will probably have those points removed in the next two weeks.
“It’s too early to think about that,” Cora said when asked if Turner would have to start the regular season on the disabled list. “We’ll see how he reacts in the next few days and we’ll go from there.”
Turner started doing a few things Thursday, including using the treadmill at the Red Sox facility “little by little,” Cora reported.
