Boy arrested in UK with taser disguised as iPhone

A boy was arrested in United Kingdom after being caught with a taser disguised as an iPhone capable of delivering up to 650,000 volts. According to the police of the city of Sutton Coldfield, although it is not lethal, the possession of this type of weapon is prohibited in the country and can lead to up to ten years in prison.

The police did not release an image of the seized weapon, but, according to them, it is practically indistinguishable from Apple’s smartphone. In addition, it is very likely that the taser was brought from the United States by members of organized crime, since the sale of this type of item is allowed in several regions of the North American country.

According to Councilor Richard Parkin, this is the first time that Sutton Coldfield Police have come across such a case.

apparently they [os tasers] they were developed in the United States to combat burglary and can deliver a shock of up to 650,000 volts of electricity. They are illegal in this country; Possession of a non-lethal taser is a criminal offense which, in my view, carries a maximum prison sentence of ten years.

You can find similar models fairly easily on sites like Amazon, at least in the US. These tasers are available not only in the form of iPhones, but also in other personal items like car keys and flashlights.

The adviser also told the Birmingham Mail that many people try to bring this type of item into the country after returning from the US without knowing that they are prohibited.

People who bring taser phones home from vacation may not know they are breaking the law, but it is an offense to own one. My advice is that if you have a taser phone or similar taser, immediately take it to the nearest police station to have it disposed of.

As highlighted by AppleInsiderWhile they may be scary, the 650,000 volts these guns are capable of delivering don’t mean much if the taser can’t deliver a strong, steady current. Even so, they can still hurt and stun a person for several minutes.
