The Silverstone Grand Prix gave us some new insights into Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 movie. The actor and his co-star, Damson Idris, were on hand over the weekend filming some scenes for the film, interfering with top-class motorsport drivers.
The film, which was confirmed just over a year ago, tells the story of Sonny Hayes, a veteran Formula 1 driver (Brad Pitt) who returns from retirement and faces the challenge of competing with a talented rookie as his teammate. (Damson Idris).
In an interview with Martin Brundle, Brad Pitt spoke about the project. “It’s been great, the vibe has been incredible and also being a part of this and telling our story… I play a driver who was racing in the 90’s… he has a horrible crash and disappears and starts racing in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, is the owner of a team that is in last place. They have a young pilot played by Damson, they give me a chance,” Pitt explains of the story.
Brad Pitt even had the opportunity to drive a car with the other drivers on the track, the actor explained that he had raced motorcycles before and this helped him perform better at high speeds, although he says he went off the track on a few occasions. “We have cameras mounted throughout the car. In shots you’ve never seen speed or G-forces like this, it’s very exciting.”
The name of the fictitious team that the veteran driver is a part of is APXGP. Its drivers wear black and white uniforms and the car is black with gold.

Pierre Gasly, a French pilot for the Alpine team, shared a photo in which some pilots appear with the actor, such as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
The film is being directed by Apple Studios and will be directed by the director of Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski. Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is a producer on the film. The script was carried out by Ehren Krueger. In addition to Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, actor of The Crown, appears in the film.
The film is being made with the collaboration of the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and the 10 teams of Formula 1.
