At the end of 2021, Sabrina Dewaleff had everything going for her. She was happy in her marriage, was the proud mother of a little girl, had a nice house, a stable job. However, at the beginning of February, the terrible diagnosis falls. After a scan at the hospital, Sabrina learns that she has a large tumor in the appendix and colon. Everything is done so that the Belgian can get out of it but a few weeks later, the doctors have to tell her the sad reality: the cancer has gained ground. It is a colorectal cancer, with metastases to the peritoneum. Chemotherapy treatment has been started to reduce his pain, but the disease is too severe. Sabrina is unfortunately terminally ill. “Recently, I had my fourth operation and I have had an ostomy (a surgical bypass) ever since. I live day to day, entirely depending on Sienna, my 9-year-old daughter. Since October 1, 2022, I have been alone, my husband has abandoned me. Fortunately, I can count on my parents, ”she told our colleagues.

Due to her illness, Sabrina had to put all of her projects on hold. In particular, she had the ambition to redevelop her house and her garden. In her misfortune, the forties had the nice surprise to see an association, the ASBL Helpende Handen Riemst, took care of it for her. When she returned from vacation, Sabrina discovered her completely renovated garden. “I didn’t know what I was seeing. I am incredibly grateful. I could never have done it myself. »
