Brazil and China sign partnership agreements in the areas of Science and Technology

The presidents of Brazil and China, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Xi Jinping, respectively, signed a series of trade and partnership agreements during a meeting held at the Great Palace of the People, in Beijing, n.this friday (14).

Several agreements were signed between the two governments, some of which are aimed at for the development of technologies and the exchange of communication content between the two countries. The ceremony forms part of theLula’s official visit to China.


One of the agreements provides for a space cooperation plan between the two countries, until 2032, and the launch of the seventh satellite in the partnership between Brazil and China: the CBERS-6. Countries should cooperate in creating technologies for outer space.

Another agreement provides for cooperation between National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) of Brazil and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, in addition to a television co-production partnership between the two governments.

  • Complementary Protocol on the Joint Development of CBERS-6 between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the ‘Framework Agreement on Cooperation in Peaceful Applications of Science and Technology in Outer Space between the Government of the Federative Republic of China Brazil and the Government of the People’s Republic of China’;
  • Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in research and innovation between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China;
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China on cooperation in information and communication technologies;
  • Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in information and communications between the Ministry of Communications of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the National Telecommunications Agency of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China;
  • Television co-production agreement between the government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the government of the People’s Republic of China;
  • Cooperation agreement between the Xinhua News Agency and Empresa Brasil de Comunicação;
  • Space cooperation plan 2023-2032 between the National Space Administration of China and the Brazilian Space Agency.

Private sector

In turn, the private sector also sealed some agreements, such as the one involving the Brazilian company Unifique and the Chinese company ZTE for a partnership to improve 5G coverage in southern Brazil. Vale also signed partnerships focused on zero emission processes.

The agreement for registration and commercialization of Azvudine in Brazil was also confirmed. The oral treatment medicine was created in China and is used to treat new variants of the coronavirus.
