“What he understands is that the big-name players in the two teams will play in the match scheduled for June 11,” said Victoria State Sports Minister Martin Bakula.
“Our prediction, which comes from the discussions we’ve had, is that players like (Lionel) Messi and Neymar will come here,” he told Melbourne’s 3AW radio.
“We cannot be 100% sure but we have been told that this is an important preparation for the players in the lead up to the World Cup.”
Neymar was excluded from the Brazil squad for the 2017 match at the same stadium, but Messi, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, was present in Argentina’s 1-0 victory.
Barcelona, the former club of Neymar and Messi, will make a trip to Australia this year for a friendly match on May 25 once morest the A-League All-Star team in Sydney.
