The country’s economy, monitored daily by the financial market, by economists, investors and financial institutions, is measured by GDP. The Gross Domestic Product, an indicator created by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) takes into account all services and final goods produced in the country during a period of time.

As important as the disclosure of GDP, which shows the sum of services produced in Brazil, which in 2022 was R$ 9.9 trillion, there must also be recognition of professionals who are not on the front line, such as the accountant, who performs functions and performs essential tasks within small and large institutions across the country and that deserve to be revered, according to Professor Priscila Maluzza Pissinato, Coordinator of the Accounting, Fiscal and Tax Management course at UniPaulistana.

She points out that, in this month of April, when Accountant’s Day (25/04) is celebrated, it is necessary to highlight the contribution that accounting professionals make to the development of the country. “An indispensable professional in providing information, in the elaboration of strategies and plans that will be responsible for the growth of institutions and for results that will add up to form the GDP” says the professor.

The importance of the Accountant can be assessed in a recent article published by the Master of UniPaulistana, where she highlights that, according to the Federal Accounting Council (CFC) website, each year there is a growing number, both of new professionals and of accounting. Data indicate that in 2020, Brazil had around 519,080 registered professionals, and 73,898 accounting offices. In the first quarter of 2023, this number reached 525,834 professionals and 85,398 organizations.

For Priscila Maluzza Pissinato, professional Accountants have knowledge of the economic, financial and property situation of companies and work to increase results in the business world.
