With a total of more than two million records sold, the “Söhne Mannheims” have been writing pop music history for almost three decades. Although the band members of the German music formation have changed over the years, it has always been a male-only formation. Clara Louise from Fuschl (Flachgau), who lives in Salzburg, is now on board for a new single.

For the music video for the single, the musicians and film team met on Saturday at sunrise on the Gaisberg. The songwriter and singer is proud that she was selected as the first woman to be allowed to take part in the Söhne Mannheims: “When I heard that, I first thought it was a joke. When I then realized that it was actually the case, I was extremely happy. Of course it’s a huge compliment,” says Clara Louise happily.

“Proud to have made this decision”

“I also grew up with the ‘Söhne Mannheims’ and know so many songs and then I was totally enthusiastic about the song it’s about.” But the band is also delighted that the singer has accepted, the singer describes the “Söhne Mannheims” Dominic Sanz: “I think we can be very proud that we made this decision. I really get to know her for the first time during the video shoot. Unfortunately, it’s always such a distance – Salzburg and the Eifel – at least for me. But it’s all the nicer now that we’ve met here. You match immediately, it fits really well. She has an incredibly beautiful, soothing voice, writes super nice things and she proved that in this song.” The published author wrote the lyrics of the song herself. The single “Main Prize” is already out. The music video will follow in mid-September.

“Mannheim’s sons” discover Salzburg

The Gaisberg at sunrise is one of the scenes in the video. The idea for this came from the native of Salzburg. “Yes, I was asked what is a nice location for sunrise in Salzburg? And that’s when I thought of the Gaisberg, because I’ve been here many times at sunset and thought, the sunrise must be very beautiful there too.”

It was difficult to find a time to shoot together

The biggest challenge was finding a common date for shooting. “It was very critical, but somehow we made it. I flew here last night. Immediately after the video shoot it’s back because I’m going to continue with a gig tonight. So you jetsetter back and forth a bit, but for something like that and for a view like that and a great video shoot like that, we’re very happy to do it,” says Sanz.

The song passages with the other musicians are shot and edited in the studio. “Hauptgewinn” is the last single release before the new album “Kompass” will be released on September 15th. Next year the band will be on tour in Austria and hope for guest star Clara Louise.
