Paris: People were evacuated from the Eiffel Tower in Paris following a bomb threat. People who were on the three floors of the tower and the nearby complex were evacuated.
The French police and the bomb squad reached the spot and conducted an investigation. People on three floors and the area immediately below the tower were evacuated on Saturday followingnoon local time. Officials said such measures are taken in similar situations, but are rare.
Every year, 5 million people come to see the Eiffel Tower, which is a major tourist destination in France. Last year 62 lakh people came. The construction of the tower was completed in 1889.
