PHILADELPHIA — Bryce Harper left Thursday night’s game once morest the Nationals in the fifth inning with “mid-back spasms.”
“He’s day by day,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said following the game. 6-2 win over washington. “We’ll check it out tomorrow.”
It’s unclear how Harper might have injured his back, though he looked uncomfortable following taking a throw from pitcher Aaron Nola when he tried to catch a runner and also when he tagged CJ Abrams to put him out in the third inning. Harper got up and appeared to stretch her back following the play.
“He doesn’t know how it happened, I don’t think,” Thomson said.
Harper went 0-for-1 with a walk before exiting the game.
