Russia-appointed governor of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said on Telegram early Monday that traffic had stopped on the Russian-built Crimean Bridge linking Crimea with Russia’s Krasnodar region due to an “emergency”.
Aksionov said that the emergency was related to one of the abutments of the bridge from the side located in the Krasnodar region. He did not give any other details.
RBC-Ukraine news agency reported that explosions were heard on the Crimean Bridge, and news reports reported that one of the bridge spans had collapsed.
A channel of Russia’s private military group Wagner on Telegram announced two strikes on the bridge at 03:04 am (0004 GMT) and 03:20 am.
