WEST VIRGINIA – Timothy Kennedy, 29, of Beech Creek, the suspect in the shooting that killed West Virginia State Trooper Sergeant Corey Maynard Friday, has been arrested following an extensive manhunt, authorities said.
“This is a heartbreaking incident. Brave law enforcement officers risk their lives to keep us safe. “They are an inspiration to us all,” said Governor Jim Justice and his wife Kathy Justice.
Police said in a statement that following receiving a report of a shooting in the Beech Creek area of Mingo County, shots were fired at officers who arrived there. Maynard, who was shot, was first taken to a hospital in Logan, but might not be saved. No further details regarding the incident have been released.
